Full House

I joined St. Bees School as a pupil in 1962, returned as teacher in 1975, and was appointed as a governor in 2011. I have now seen the school from three different perspectives. Being a governor at St. Bees is a challenging experience and I suspect this has been the case since 1583!

My vision for the school hasn’t changed for many years and it is very simple: for St. Bees to be successful. Over the many years I have been associated with the school there have been successes in every aspect of school life and it is my intention to see this continue. Times change and it is important that we are all aware of this and have the necessary expertise to meet the challenges that these changes will bring. Important decisions will continue to be made which I hope will enable the school to continue to prosper.

Since becoming a Governor I have been appointed to the Development Committee under the chairmanship of Bill Colbeck, an old boy of the school (FN 49-55). The Committee’s main responsibility will be to raise funds to help progress various projects, which have been and will continue to be identified over the coming years. There are a number of such projects, currently in their infancy, which I hope to be able to say more about in the future.

In closing I would like to thank members of the Society for their support in enabling me to be elected as a governor. I will do all that I can to help the Society and the school.

Darryl Davies (FS 62-68).
